To celebrate 60 years of the Duke of Ed, HRH The Countess of Wessex is cycling with a team of seven people 445 miles from from Holyroodhouse Palace in Edinburgh to Buckingham Palace in London in seven days. She is raising money through the DofE Diamond Challenge for the UK Award’s work with disadvantage and vulnerable young people. Before her training, The Countess had never been on a road bike before. When speaking to Rhiannon Mills of Sky News she admitted that she feels "Nervous, very nervous. Quite terrified." That is the crux of the Diamond Challenge. While her biking is a money raising effort, it is also an extension of an Award that encourages you to rise above your fears to excel in areas that you’ve yet to explore. It is through these new challenges that we discover the most about ourselves as individuals.
